Back in May 2004, Monica, Chandler, Rachel, Ross, Phoebe, and Joey placed their keys on the counter of the apartment where we watched their journey unfold.For ten seasons before going for one last coffee at Central Perk, the series hadn’t completely said its final word.
From September 2004 and for a year and a half afterwards, NBC aired a spin-off about Joey, played by Matt LeBlanc. The series follows the character as he travels to Los Angeles to try to revitalize his acting career after years spent in New York with little-known plays and soap operas. We also meet other characters from Friends, like Gina (Drea de Matteo), Joey's sister, and Michael (Paulo Costanzo), his nephew.
From Excitement to Failure
However, the spin-off did not gain the same popularity...the expected success at the time. Although 18.6 million Americans tuned in for the premiere episode, interest gradually declined, which led to its cancellation before the end of the second season.
