For this bistro in Val-de-Marne, the news was indeed unexpected: after several weeks of competition with other establishments from Île-de-France, it’s finally L’Imprévu, located in Vitry-sur-Seine, that takes home the title of best bistro, a contest launched by the locals at BFM TV in mid-October. “It’s the everyday work that is being rewarded,” rejoiced Laurent Roucous, the restaurant's owner, at the microphone of the journalists who came to present him with his already prestigious award. Let’s head to this little-known establishment in the region.

Friendliness and Quality

If L’Imprévu has made it onto the list of participants, it’s thanks to a regular visitor. “It’s a customer who comes every morning for coffee, and occasionally has a bite to eat. One day he mentioned it to me, and I went for it. I have a great pride in receiving this award ,” says Laurent Roucous to BFM TV. While some point to the “friendliness” of the place, for others, it’s the “quality of the dishes” that makes all the difference. In fact, on Tripadvisor, the restaurant can proudly claim to have received Five stars out of five, nothing more, nothing less.

A flawless score based on 129 unanimous reviews: the Aveyron cuisine served here is absolutely divine. The meats, sourced from the renowned producer La Maison Conquet, are praised for their cooking: at L'Imprévu, you can find charcuterie, beef ribs, sirloin steak, and also traditional French recipes like beef bourguignon or ham-wrapped endives like grandma used to make. For dessert, they stick to well-executed classics: chocolate tart, apple tart, and much more.

Two Parisian establishments on the podium

The competition was launched in mid-October when viewers of the local BFM channels were invited to choose their favorite bistro. A panel of professionals then selected three finalists per geographical area, using strict criteria: the quality of the menu, the products, the general ambiance, and the bistro spirit. Finally, it was the viewers who chose between the finalists by voting for their favorite establishment. L’Imprévu, the winner for BFM Paris Île-de-France, triumphed over two other Parisian bistros: Chez Prune (10th) and La Régalade (1st).
