The city of Nice continues its commitment to the environment with the development of a large landscaped park in the Plaine du Var. Spanning 30 hectares, this future green space will be over twice the size of the Promenade du Paillon, which currently covers 12 hectares.
.
First Opening in Spring 2025
Construction is moving along swiftly, and a first section of 5.5 hectares, located in the northern part of the park, near the Baraques crossing, will be inaugurated in Spring 2025. This area will showcase an agricultural aspect and will interact with the future municipal horticultural production center. The city's ambitious goal is to create a true forest in the city. The project plans for the planting of 140,000 trees, thereby contributing to the restoration of the local ecosystem and enhancing the city's green heritage.
A gradual transformation by 2030
The complete transformation of the Plaine du Var will take place in stages, with phases of completion planned between 2026 and 2030. The goal is to permeabilize 60% of the land by replacing paved surfaces with green spaces, promoting rainwater absorption and combating urban heat islands. The park will be accessible via tram, making it easier for residents and visitors to enjoy this new space for relaxation and recreation. We can't wait, how about you?
