No smoking beaches: that's THE big revolution of this year 2024 for all public beaches in Nice. While in 2012, Nice was the first city in France to offer a smoke-free beach (facing the Lenval Hospital), it is now continuing its hunt for cigarette butts by extending this measure to all its public beaches. A decision that is both ecological and medical.
25 public beaches become off-limits to smokers
By the summer of 2024, no less than 25 public beaches become off-limits to cigarettes. Now we will have to see how things will be enforced: fines, ashtrays installed near the beaches... Nice can then rely on the other 20 municipalities on the French Riviera that already apply this rule, such as Menton, Cagnes or even Cannes. The end of smoking seems to have arrived on the entire French Riviera!
