More than 50 beaches on the French Riviera have been contaminated with gastroenteritis

Imagine spending a sunny day at the beach, only to find out later that the water is not safe for swimming! Thanks to the Eaux et Rivières association, you can now easily check the water quality of your favorite beaches. Their interactive map shows you which beaches to avoid due to bacteria contamination. The latest report identifies 21 beaches to steer clear of and 88 others with recurring pollution issues. Among them? At least 50 beaches are located on the French Riviera out of the 215 total beaches identified. We find, more or less, all the beaches that we are used to frequenting in the summer: almost all the beaches in Nice, those in Saint-Laurent-du-Var, or on the side of Villefranche! According to Sud-Ouest Bordeaux, "when swimming, the risk is to develop gastroenteritis". The ranking - based on public data to inform swimmers - includes 4 categories: recommended, low risk, to avoid, not recommended.
