By 2030, Nice will have an impressive cultural venue. The Palais des Expositions, built between 1956 and 1964, will undergo a true transformation to become the Palais des Arts et de la Culture. With its 17,000 m² of space, its monumental vault spanning 69 meters and stretching 150 meters long, this iconic building will host the future main hall of the Nice National Theatre (800 seats), a cinema, and an exhibition space.
After completing the preliminary studies, the City Hall of Nice is getting ready to launch a competitive dialogue process in the coming weeks. The goal? To refine the contours of the project and meet the expectations of artists and the public. For Christian Estrosi, this transformation is part of a cultural policy pursued for 15 years, aimed at revitalizing the artistic offering and providing creators with a modern and efficient tool.
The city of Nice in full metamorphosis
This project adds to the numerous renovations happening in the city, including those of the MAMAC, the Natural History Museum, the Louis Nucéra Library, and the Jules Chéret Museum of Fine Arts. Nice aims to establish itself as a true territory of creation and sharing.
The budget allocated to culture for 2025 amounts to 93.1 million euros, a 4% increase from the previous year. Within this budget, 16.4 million will be specifically dedicated to the renovation and maintenance of municipal establishments. The delivery of the Palais des Arts et de la Culture is scheduled for 2030 and promises to redefine the cultural landscape of Nice for decades to come.
