So why is it called the "pink moon" then?

The name simply comes from a flower: the pink phlox, which blooms in North America around this time. Well, let's be honest, it sounds much nicer to say “pink full moon” than “phlox full moon,” and it’s also a poetic way to mark the arrival of spring.
