It was meant to shine a spotlight on Nice under the dazzling lights of international laughter, but the curtain fell before the first sketch even started. JUBIL, this grand festival of humor proudly labeled “international ambition” and co-piloted by the duo Gad Elmaleh - Grégoire Furrer (the boss of Montreux Comedy), will ultimately not take place in October 2025 according to revelations from Nice-Presse. A tough blow for the Nice scene, and quite a surprising twist for an event whose promotion was in full swing.

Remember: Gad at Carnival, Gad at FNAC, the ticket sales already open, the blockbuster-style teasers, promises of a show broadcast on Netflix or something similar, and the commitment...

local actors… Everything was set for JUBIL to become the annual humorous landmark of the French Riviera. But behind the scenes, the project had been wobbling for a few weeks. The rumors intensified, the website was quietly taken offline, the ticket sales vanished, and finally, the news broke: JUBIL is officially canceled. This was confirmed by the Palais Nikïa, which was supposed to host the big nights of the festival.

A Huge Disappointment for the City and Its Vibrance

This is a cold shower for the city, which had placed big hopes on this event to boost Nice's cultural and tourist image. The deputy mayor, Graig Monetti, was still recently excited in the local press, praising “an exceptional challenge” with top names from the comedy scene, ready to bring joy to the neighborhoods of Nice. It was an ambition that looked great on paper but has come crashing down without a sound.

No official statement from GF Productions at the moment. But one thing is for sure: JUBIL, meant to bring laughter to the entire city, has mostly left a sense of unfinished business. And now there’s a gap in Nice's cultural calendar that needs to be filled...
