On the Côte d’Azur, winter has its own rhythm: instead of pulling out the mittens, you slip into a swimsuit and run towards the water. On Sunday, December 7th, at 11 am, the municipal sailing school of Cagnes-sur-Mer will welcome the bravest (and the playful) for a collective plunge into an surprisingly inviting Mediterranean. Seventeen degrees: just enough to say “it’s fine,” but not enough to stop that little squeal when you hit the water.

This intergenerational event (open to ages 5 to 80) has become a true local tradition. You’ll meet regulars who swear by “the thrill that wakes you up.”

", families gathering to capture the moment, and newcomers still wondering how they got wrapped up in this adventure.

Between sporty challenge and warm atmosphere

After the swim, everyone gathers around warm beverages to recover from their emotions. Steaming hot chocolate, piping hot tea, mulled wine for those who feel the chill... Everyone has their own strategy to regain the feeling in their toes. The event concludes with the presentation of diplomas by the Mayor and the famous toast of friendship, that moment where we compare levels of courage, the screams let out upon entering the water, and the more or less controlled performances upon exiting.
