When temperatures soar on the Côte d'Azur, it's not just humans who dream of diving into the sea. Dogs also seek out a shady spot, a little fresh water... and if possible, a place where they are truly welcome. Good news: in Nice, several areas have been specially set up to welcome our four-legged companions during the summer!
Beaches where dogs are welcome
The two main dog-friendly beaches in Nice are located on the Lenval and La Lanterne sides. These spaces are designed to let dogs enjoy the coastline without stress. On-site, dogs can roam freely and swim, provided they follow certain rules based on their category. Category 1 dogs remain prohibited, while category 2 dogs must be muzzled and kept on a leash.
Traveling with your dog, an important criterion for trips
In recent years, "dog-friendly" destinations have been booming all over France. Many vacationers now refuse to travel without their furry friends (which is totally understandable!!), and cities are slowly starting to adapt their spaces.Nice is definitely one of the French cities that is taking this shift seriously. With authorized beaches, seaside promenades, and places accessible to pets, the city is becoming more and more welcoming for dog owners.
And honestly, a day at the beach is often way more fun when an overly excited golden retriever decides to dig a gigantic hole right next to your towel!
