The Editor

Born in Lyon fifteen years ago and successfully expanded to Paris, Lille, Bordeaux, and Alsace, La Vaisselle des Chefs has crafted a concept that’s truly its own: buying up the dishware, glassware, cutlery, and silverware from top restaurants and luxury hotels to offer it to the public at prices that have nothing to do with their origins. And for this first edition in Nice, organized with the support of Umih, the lineup of participating establishments matches the beauty of the Côte d'Azur. Le Negresco, an iconic establishment on the Promenade des Anglais. Hôtel Martinez and Le Majestic in Cannes. Le Byblos, Le Pan Deï Palais, and Hôtel de Paris Saint-Tropez in Saint-Tropez, Hôtel Royal-Riviera in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Le Mas Candille in Mougins, Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo, and about fifteen other places that embody the Mediterranean art of hosting in its most refined form.

Virginie Basselot, godmother of this first edition

To sponsor this event, La Vaisselle des Chefs has chosen Virginie Basselot, a Michelin-starred chef at Negresco, one of the most respected figures in contemporary French gastronomy. Her commitment speaks volumes about the nature of the project: "The tableware is an integral part of the emotion of the meal. It highlights the cuisine, extends the chef's intention, and contributes to the memory we keep of a moment at the table. They are not just objects; they are witnesses of a story." So, acquiring one of these pieces means bringing home a fragment of something grander than the tableware itself.

A responsible gesture that turns into a good deed

Beyond the joy of treasure hunting, the event embodies a spirit of responsible consumption that resonates with the times. In 2023, about 7 out of 10 French people bought at least one second-hand item, and La Vaisselle des Chefs is aimed precisely at this new awareness for sustainable luxury. A portion of the profits will be donated to Kiwanis to support initiatives for children. Whether you're a collector, a lover of beautiful tableware, a food enthusiast, or just curious, everyone will find their gem among the 10,000 pieces offered on April 25 and 26 at the Océanic Congress Center. Personally, we’ll be there!
