The Editor

After the troubled times we have been through, a new solidarity concept is expected to open in Nice to bring joy into our daily lives. While this information is still tentative, our investigative talents have led us to discover that the project is in progress in Nice. A certain Mr. Torres is leading the project and aims to make it a reality: "I aim to enable people with mental disabilities to find their place in the heart of our civil society, to make disabilities visible by offering inclusion in the regular work environment. We are a team of volunteers dedicated to all actions promoting the opening of a Joyful Café in Nice, to offer opportunities to many young individuals in the Nice region who have mental disabilities or cognitive challenges, to find their place and encourage the recognition of their differences." What is Café Joyeux?

The principle is simple: Café Joyeux, it's exactly like a traditional coffee shop except that the employees who work there (servers and cooks) have Down syndrome or autism. Already present in Rennes, Lyon, Paris and Bordeaux since February 2020, the concept plans to expand to other French cities such as Lille, Brest and Toulouse.

Crowned in December by the Legion of Honor, the initiative of the entrepreneur Yann Bucaille-Lanrezac can be summarized by its slogan: "Served with the heart". Featuring a smiling and caring staff, homemade food made with love, and fresh products. Behind this brilliant and necessary concept, there is a clearly stated objective: "putting people with intellectual or cognitive disabilities at the heart of our cities".

and of our lives ».

And to keep this kind of establishment going, all profits made are reinvested in opening more coffee shops. So we only have one thing to shout out: long live Cafés Joyeux and hopefully to see one opening in Nice soon!
