Attention all passionate film lovers and curious adventurers of the latest movie offerings: if you missed out on the 58th edition of the Quinzaine des cinéastes that took place alongside the Cannes Film Festival, from May 13 to 23, don’t worry! The selection of films will be shown in about thirty partner cinemas across France. Here’s all the information you need.

An event that's been around since 1969

The Quinzaine des Cinéastes: what is it? Since its creation in 1969 by the Society of Film Directors (SRF), this independent initiative has aimed to shine a spotlight on the richness and diversity that exists in cinema. It takes place every year in May, alongside the Cannes Film Festival, but unlike the prestigious competition, it doesn't put films head-to-head. Feature films, short films, fiction, documentaries, animations… all creative horizons and all cinematic genres are represented. It's a wonderful way to discover new talents and allow all audiences to enjoy screenings.

31 partner cinemas across France

Among the films showcased this year, we have some real gems that we are sure will make their mark in cinema history. This includes Shana by Lila Pinel; The Vertigo by Quentin Dupieux; The Dog by Dominga Sotomayor; I See Buildings Falling Like Lightning by Clio Barnard; Dora by July Jung; 9 Temples to the Sky by Sompot Chidgasornpongse, and many more!

The good news? No matter where you are in France, you can enjoy these films at 31 partner cinemas. In Paris, the Forum des images, Mk2 Beaubourg, Reflet Médecis, and Louxor are taking part. Over in Lyon, it’s Comoedia that will screen the films from the Quinzaine, while in Avignon and Bordeaux, you can catch them at Utopia. If you’re in Toulouse, don’t miss L'American Cosmograph. The Dietrich in Poitiers, TNB in Rennes, L’Omnia République in Rouen, Les Carmes in Orléans, and Le Katorza in Nantes will also join in the festivities. The southeast will be part of the fun too, with Mazarin in Aix-en-Provence, Alhambra in Marseille, and the Jean-Paul Belmondo and Rialto cinemas in Nice!

The other participating cinemas are: Les Montreurs d'images in Agen, Cineplanet in Alès and Salon de Provence.

Ciné Saint Leu in Amiens, Le Sélect in Antony, Ciné 32 in Auch, Le Cigalon in Cucuron, Le Club in Grenoble, Le Méliès in Grenoble and Saint-Étienne, Café des images in Hérouville St Clair, La Coursive in La Rochelle, Le Concorde in La Roche-sur-Yon, and Caméo Commanderie in Nancy.

So, ready for a good dose of cinema ?
