Gloomy Record in Nantes!
This involuntary eclipse even grounded the planes of the Nantes-Atlantique flying club for nine consecutive days, unable to fly due to thick fog. Olivier Dumas, the president of the flying club and a witness to the capricious weather of recent decades, admits he has never seen such a cloud blockage. “It’s been nine days since our planes have seen the sky.” A first since the club was established in 1920, no less!

The People of Nantes Stay True to Their Humor
If this record of gray weather can put a damper on your spirits, it certainly doesn't affect the upbeat nature of Nantes: on social media, locals are competing to be the funniest in describing this endless sky. "When you manage to catch a minute of sunshine, it's almost a privilege," jokes one user. "I almost saw my shadow today, but it disappeared before I could recognize it!" adds another.
It's hard to say when the sun will decide to show up again, but one thing is for sure: when it does, the people of Nantes will be ready to celebrate like never before. In the meantime, it's all about getting that vitamin D in other ways... and hoping for a November that's a little less "gray." Fingers crossed!
