The famous fried chicken chain KFC has confirmed its intention to open a second restaurant in Nantes, marking a new step in its expansion in France. This project aims to strengthen the brand's presence in the West of the country, but it might turn out to be more complicated than expected. We'll tell you all about it!

A project overlooked by the city of Nantes?

The installation work for KFC has recently begun on Place du Commerce, one of the busiest areas in the city center. In the meantime, the fast-food chain has launched a call for applications to recruit versatile team members. But as surprising as it may sound, this project has apparently caught the city of Nantes off guard.
Gildas Salaun, the deputy in charge of downtown businesses, expressed his displeasure during an interview with Telenantes. He asserted that the municipality... alité had not been informed about the installation of KFC, which caused a feeling of frustration within the municipal services.

The town hall is trying to block the installation!

In light of this unexpected situation, the Nantes town hall has responded by exploring legal avenues to prevent the opening of this new restaurant. According to Gildas Salaun, it appears that KFC did not clearly mention its name in the administrative documents submitted to obtain the necessary permits. This lack of transparency is now raising some concerns.Concerns have been raised about the validity of the procedure followed by the chain.
Annoyed by this maneuver, the municipality is therefore looking to explore possible legal actions to block the installation of KFC in the Place du Commerce.

A divisive debate!

This establishment in the heart of Nantes raises several questions among residents and local authorities. On one hand, some consumers are excited about the arrival of this popular chain, while others fear an increase in fast-food outlets, seen as a threat to quality of life and public health. Moreover, the impact on the urban landscape and the appeal of the city center is a concern for those advocating for better management of businesses in urban areas.

This conflict could mark a turning point in the debate over the regulation of fast-food chains in city centers.
