Environmental challenges, technical and technological advancements, speed and performance… For sailing professionals and sailors around the world, what will the offshore racing of tomorrow look like? On November 28, the National Navy Museum in Paris is hosting a special evening event featuring debates, artistic performances, workshops, a pop-up bar, and exclusive access to the temporary exhibition Solo Around the World, which will close on January 26.

An evening to envision the race of tomorrow

Whatever the medium, the offshore racing of tomorrow will be at the heart of the spotlight during this exceptional evening at the National Navy Museum. In the auditorium, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM, there will be a meeting with Roland Jourdain, skipper and co-manager of Kaïros, Etienne Le Pen, a life cycle assessment engineer at Kaïros.

and finally Antoine Mermod, president of the IMOCA class. It will be moderated by the curators of the exhibition En solitaire autour du monde, Lénaïg L’Aot-Lombard and Didier Ravon. Together, the speakers will try to imagine how to give a new direction to offshore racing in the face of environmental challenges.

In the museum hall, an artistic performance will also take place from 7 PM to 9:30 PM by the French street art duo Titomulk, who will share their live vision of the future of offshore racing.

But that’s not all! Throughout the evening, from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM, a multitude of activities will be offered in all corners of the museum to immerse visitors in the thrilling world of offshore racing: workshop for creating slogan posters, try out the video game Virtual Regatta Inshore to test your skipper skills, guided tour of the exhibition... not to mention the pop-up bar featuring Monument Café and a photo booth to capture memories of your visit. In short, an immersive evening accessible to everyone!

An exhibition at the heart of solo sailing

This special evening echoes the exhibition Solo Around the World, which immerses visitors in the captivating world of solo round-the-world racing, in connection with the tenth edition of the Vendée Globe that kicked off this Sunday, November 10.

Through a series of maritime objects, immersive stories, and video testimonies, the exhibition retraces the feats and challenges faced by skippers as they sail across the world's oceans. Alongside the greatest skippers, visitors will discover the must-see stages of a solo, non-stop, and unassisted round-the-world sailing trip, to relive all those exciting emotions.
