A Huge Project for a Key Route
Closed since April 2024, the Anne-de-Bretagne bridge has undergone a lengthy facelift, especially for the renovation and security of the underground networks on Léon-Bureau boulevard. The result: just over 14 months without any car traffic on this major route connecting the island of Nantes to the city center.
The good news is that starting this Monday at noon, drivers can find their way back to northwestern Nantes. It's a partial reopening, but it will finally ease traffic on several surrounding bridges.
A temporary reopening !
No need to celebrate too quickly, the bridge will still be playing hide-and-seek with users. A new closure is already planned between November and December 2025 to install the deck of the new bridge.
And that's not all, between May and August 2026, the bridge and Léon-Bureau Boulevard will be completely closed once again, while we connect the new tramway lines, renovate the platforms, and finish the improvements.
A future multi-use and green bridge
The real revolution will come in September 2026, with the opening of an entirely new structure, greener, gentler, and adapted to current mobility needs. It will include spacious pedestrian areas, a bike lane, and green zones.
In March 2027, two-way car traffic will make its grand return, followed by one last summer closure to finalize the work and conduct tramway tests. The goal? A complete delivery in full swing!
See you at the end of the year 2027!
The Anne-de-Bretagne Bridge is transforming into a symbol of a city that's more fluid, greener, and more modern. And even though traffic woes aren't entirely behind us yet, this reopening marks a real turning point.
So, patience and courage, the end of the tunnel (or rather the bridge) is in sight!
