On Saturday, May 30, 2026, head to the Michel Baudry Park in Orvault for the fourth edition of the Teckel Fest Nantes. Starting at 3 PM, the park will literally be taken over by… dachshunds.

Dachshunds by the hundreds

Every year, this event attracts more and more people: passionate owners, dog lovers, and simple curious folks come together to share a friendly moment around this breed that is as charming as it is mischievous. Organized in partnership with the guinguette La Belle Saison, this gathering promises a relaxed, festive atmosphere filled with 100% good vibes.

An event for dachshund fans… but not only

No need to own a dachshund to join in, and that's part of what makes the Teckel Fest such a hit! The idea is simple: come together, share, and enjoy a lovely moment outdoors in a warm atmosphere. Inspired by the famous "Sausage Walks" held in various European cities, this type of gathering is becoming increasingly popular in France. And in Nantes, the phenomenon is definitely growing! With engaging conversations among owners and delightful canine meetups, everything is set for an extraordinary afternoon.

Contests, strolls, and fun times on the agenda

The Teckel Fest isn’t just about showcasing adorable dogs (though let’s be honest, that’s already a great reason to join!). Several activities will add excitement to the event. Highlights include the highly anticipated best dachshund costume contest. Here, creativity is a must: superheroes, princesses, giant hot dogs…lip; anything goes. Another highlight is the group walk in the park. Picture a line of dachshunds strolling together... yes, it’s just as funny as it sounds. It's a chance to share tips and stories among fellow enthusiasts, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

A Solidarity Event

Beyond the festive aspect, the Teckel Fest carries a wonderful initiative. A donation drive will be organized to support local animal shelters, which work daily to help abandoned dogs. It's a way to combine the useful with the enjoyable, adding even more meaning to this event.

A Guinguette Atmosphere to Extend the Fun

The Teckel Fest is part of the lively atmosphere of La Belle Saison guinguette, which launched its new season at the beginning of April. Known for its pleasant setting and friendly vibe, it attracts many visitors each year who come to enjoy simple moments with friends or family.

Whether you come with your dog or just to admire these little bundles of energy with their mischievous gazes, one thing is for sure: you might leave wanting to adopt one!
