Instead of a traditional aquatic center, the facility will focus on swim education, especially for the little ones. And here's a unique twist: the pool hall won't be heated in the winter! It's a bold move and quite unprecedented in the region.
An innovative pool to tackle climate challenges
Inaugurated in 2001, the current pool in Clisson is now running on empty. With general wear and tear, technical issues, and especially excessive energy consumption, the costs are high, and its future is uncertain. "Extending its lifespan would require enormous renovations, estimated at around 7 million euros," explained Jean-Guy Cornu, president of the community, during the council meeting on June 24, 2025. However, these investments wouldn't improve the building's energy efficiency at all. Therefore, reconstruction stands out as the most sustainable and rational solution.

10 million euros for a greener pool
The future building, entrusted to the architect selected by the community, will feature two pools designed to minimize energy expenses, especially with the help of an unheated hall. It's a bold yet thoughtful venture that will lead to a significant reduction in consumption. The focus will be on welcoming school groups, with conditions tailored to introduce the youngest to swimming, even in winter.
Opening expected in 2027
The construction is set to start soon, with a hoped-for opening in 2027. Until then, users will have to turn to other pools in the area. But this waiting period promises a wonderful future for swimming, featuring a modern, sustainable pool that is truly looking towards tomorrow.
