A unique discovery center around the Loire
Opened in 2019, Terre d’Estuaire is not a traditional museum. This 2,000m² site proudly presents itself as an immersive discovery center, dedicated to the natural, historical, and industrial richness of the Loire estuary. It’s located at the Cordemais port, right near the power plant. And while this might seem surprising, this contrast is actually a key part of the place’s identity, blending preserved nature with industrial heritage.

A Hot Air Balloon Ride Inspired by Jules Verne
The highlight of the show? Without a doubt, the tethered balloon inspired by the stories of Jules Verne, which gently lifts you up to 25 meters high. Up there, the panoramic view is 360°, offering a breathtaking view of the Loire, its meanders, its marshes, and sometimes even the outskirts of Nantes on a clear day. The ascent is smooth, silent, and almost meditative. It’s a magical experience for both kids and adults alike.
An Immersive and Educational Journey
Terre d’Estuaire is also an interactive visitor experience that dives into the secrets of the Loire: its ecosystems, migratory birds, wetlands, and its role in the maritime and industrial history of the region.
