A castle with an iconic tower
As soon as you arrive, the proud octagonal tower of the medieval castle of Oudon welcomes you with open arms, seeming to watch over the river and the surroundings for centuries. Surrounded by picturesque Ligurian houses, the castle offers a true journey back in time. The site of Oudon is an ancient fortress that owes its unique configuration to the geography of the area, with the Loire River hugging the hillsides and forming a narrow passage. In the heart of the village, on the right bank of the Hâvre, proudly stands the tower of Oudon, a symbol of the municipality. This building is actually the remains of a medieval castle rebuilt in the 14th century, erected on the site of an initial construction dating back to the 11th century under the reign of Jean IV. Today, this tower houses a theatrical journey showcasing the Loire River, allowing visitors to discover its history and role in the region.
