The Editor

Let's pause for a moment. Let's take this necessary break and reconnect with these trees, this nature that we see every day without necessarily paying attention to it. From July 6th to September 8th, it's a return to the essential and a symbiosis with the plant life that you will be able to experience in the Venice of the West, with the return of the Voyage à Nantes. Around the city, artists are coming together to highlight the beauty of the trees, reinterpreting them without causing harm. An initiative aimed at bridging art and nature, but also at raising awareness about the importance of trees in the city.

Immersing in Art and Nature

From Place Graslin to Place Royale, passing through the Nantes vineyard, City Hall, the Water Mirror, the Bouteillerie Cemetery, and the Botanical Garden, the works of about fifteen artists will take over the entire urban space to create a true communion between the city, its inhabitants, and its trees.

An immense wooden sculpture conceived by Henrique Oliveira will take root on the Graslin square and climb up to the steps of the theater. An astonishing work that invites us to question our relationship with the environment. David Claerbout, on the other hand, will take us on a journey through the forest through a video installation. Initially peaceful, it gradually ignites to offer us an immersion that is both beautiful and dramatic, alerting us to the fragility of our world. With a touch of humor, Jean-François Fourtou combines man and nature with a sculpture of a man's body and a head made of plants.

Promote Local

Alongside the art pieces and exhibitions scattered throughout the city, various events will punctuate the summer. July 6 will mark the festive launch of the summer edition 2024 with the Night of the VAN. On September 6, the Night of the Tables, the celebration of Nantes gastronomy, will bring together over 60 Nantes restaurants to introduce you to the diversity of local cuisine and the best addresses in the city, all featured in the Tables de Nantes guide. Two days later, on September 8, the Grand Market of Pays de la Loire will make its grand return to meet local producers and artisans and showcase the culinary treasures of the region.

Enjoy everything the region has to offer, from delicious food to delightful events, as you explore and support local businesses and talents. Let the spirit of community and celebration fill your summer with joy!
