Like every year in August, Shanghai Jiao Tong University has revealed its ranking of the top universities in the world. Even though it is not at the top, a university from Nantes has managed to shine among the 1,000 chosen institutions and has once again made its way into the prestigious ranking.

Nantes is once again in a ranking (YAY)! The University of Nantes is among the 1,000 institutions selected as the best in the world. It is situated between the 701st and 800th places, making it officially the 29th best university in France. This positioning is particularly due to a nice ranking at the global level in dentistry and oral science. Over 2,500 institutions compared The Shanghai Ranking 2023 is based on several criteria such as the number of Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals among alumni and faculty, the quantity of most cited professors in their discipline, and the number of publications in scientific journals. Even though this recognition of the University of Nantes is encouraging, it still ranks far from the top 100 and is not as well placed as some of its French counterparts. Paris-Saclay is at the 15th position, PSL Paris at the 41st position, La Sorbonne at the 46th position, and Paris Cité at the 69th position.
