As explained by the media Le Métropolitain, just hours before her passing, the young woman, suffering from vomiting, a high fever, and fainting spells, had called for an ambulance with the help of a friend. However, despite two calls to the emergency services, no ambulance was dispatched, and the emergency services reportedly advised the young woman to “take a shower.” Meggy's friends had to drive her themselves to a clinic, where she was eventually transferred to the hospital before succumbing to the illness two hours later.
Two calls went unanswered
Following a complaint for failing to assist a person in danger filed by the family, the prosecution of Montpellier has launched an investigation, according to our colleagues at Le Monde, to analyze telephone communications and determine whether the absence of emergency services constitutes a fault.
