We’ve always known Montpellier for its sunshine, youthfulness, and energy. Now, a study by Adobe Express that looked into the morale of workers in 24 sectors across France confirms that the city also shines in terms of professional fulfillment. With 54% of employees reporting that they love their current jobs, Montpellier ranks 4th in the national standings, just after Nice, Reims, and Rennes.

The numbers that accompany this result paint a flattering picture: 42% of Montpellier workers feel motivated on their way to the office, and 23% are actually excited about starting their day. This data stands in contrast to the professional gloom that national media love to highlight.

What employees really want in 2026

Let’s add some nuance to the Montpellier picture: 14% of respondents want to change jobs as soon as possible, and 17% feel anxious before going to work. Satisfaction isn’t universal, but statistically, it is well above the national average. However, salary alone is no longer enough. The French are looking for innovation and technological tools (17%), additional benefits (14%), and flexibility.(11%) find satisfaction in their professional daily life.

Montpellier is a happy place to work, which isn’t too surprising. When you finish your day and the beach is just a tram ride away, it’s hard to stay in a bad mood for long!
