We already know Montpellier for its free public transport. Since July 1st, you can now get off wherever you like... or almost! TaM, the transport authority of the metropolis, has launched a demand-stop service on all its bus lines (except for the Sud de France train shuttle), every night from 9 PM to 2 AM. The principle is simple: if you feel more comfortable getting off between two official stops, just let the driver know at least one stop in advance. As long as safety conditions are met (well-lit area, stop on the normal route), you’re all set!

Think about it...

e; first and foremost for the most vulnerable groups: women, elderly individuals, or anyone who simply doesn't want to walk alone at night, this service addresses a genuine need for freedom and security. This is an absolutely necessary system,” summarizes Michaël Delafosse, mayor of Montpellier. And above all, it’s a new way of saying that we all have the right to move about without fear.

Enhanced Security and Connected App

Just in the first quarter of 2025, 76 joint operations with the police have been conducted, 4,500 tickets issued, and over 400 arrests made on the network. You could say that the TaM teams are on the job. And it’s not over yet! Starting November 25, the M'Ticket app will include an SOS button. In case of aggression or harassment, this button will discreetly alert the TaM Command Center. Geolocation, assistance through chat or voice call: this s;Healthcare is also going digital. Closer to home, better support, more peace of mind: we can say that nights in Montpellier have just gained some brightness.
