But what about the price tag? Luckily, the Michelin Guide has come to the rescue with a list of its most budget-friendly starred restaurants, allowing even those on a tight budget to savor the culinary delights of top chefs. In an article published last July, it spotlighted two starred restaurants that are among the most affordable in France, right here in Montpellier! Pastis Here’s what the Michelin Guide has to say: "Combining the expertise of two skilled professionals, the restaurant Pastis in Montpellier puts the spotlight on the ingredients, almost to the point of obsession. This is where the future owners first crossed paths—in Laguiole, where Michel Bras shines. On one side, we have chef Daniel Lutrand, who honed his talents at Astrance in Paris and Maison de la Lozère in Montpellier. On the other, there's Jean-Philippe Vivant, a sommelier with global experience, who previously collaborated.with Mathieu de Lauzun in Gignac. Celebrating the seasons and local produce, the producers themselves create the menu. As a result, the €45 lunch menu is a delightful surprise! It's anything but ordinary, featuring delicate, local, and inspiring cuisine. The same approach applies to the wine, where Jean-Michel Vivant highlights passionate winemakers while ensuring the perfect pairing with his partner's dishes.

Surprise menu with a starter + main course or main course + dessert for €30, or a four-course meal with two starters + main course + dessert for €45, served at lunch from Tuesday to Saturday.

The chef's 'fresh arrival' cuisine, as he describes it, is always spot on. The essence of his cooking is based on a unique menu that changes daily, featuring ultra-fresh local ingredients (Mediterranean fish, Cantal lamb...).
