As emojis increasingly replace real smiles (sad times), two young entrepreneurs from Montpellier, Yannick Autard and Yann Segonds, had the brilliant idea to create TheAfterwork. Their mission? To combat the loneliness that plagues our society (apparently, one in five French people feels lonely, not a happy situation). Their secret weapon? An app that completely redefines the concept of social gatherings.

Every Wednesday evening, you find yourself in a top secret bar in Montpellier with five perfect strangers. It starts at 7pm, right on time for happy hour (as if by chance). The location? Total surprise until the D-Day!
An algorithm for connections
If you are shy or afraid of awkward silences, know that the application uses an algorithm that connects you with people who share the same passions and goals as you. In fact, when you visit their website to book your evening, you have to answer a questionnaire: are you more introverted or extroverted? Calm or dynamic? How important is family to you? And many other questions to find people who match you. The result? Engaging conversations guaranteed!

When it comes to organization, TheAfterwork takes care of everything! You just have to show up and have a good time. On the agenda: original ice-breaking games to relax the atmosphere, delicious food, and a friendly vibe... Right now, TheAfterwork is only available in Montpellier, but the app is looking to expand to other major French cities, and even internationally, like in London or Berlin.
