Saint-Jean-de-Védas now has its dose of urban poetry. And it’s not some cheap decoration stuck on the wall: it’s pure Mantra. The French artist Youri Cansell, known as Mantra, the undisputed master of XXL murals, has unpacked his bags—and his spray paint—at the entrance of this town neighboring Montpellier to leave a... winged imprint.

On the façade of a building at the Les Méliades residence, a dance of butterflies is frozen in time. True to its style, Mantra celebrates the beauty of nature in a grand format with hyper-realistic lepidopterans that seem ready to take flight at any moment. But be careful, this isn't just a random flurry of insects: each species painted on this wall is native to the Occitanie region. It's a delicate way to bridge art and territory, contemplation and biodiversity.

A monumental work full of meaning

This work didn't just appear by chance. It's the result of a wonderful synergy between several players. LineUp, a Montpellier collective advocating for a more colorful and vibrant city, was engaged by Urbis, the property developer of the residence. And it's thanks to the dispositiAt COPAQO (which you might almost confuse with an urban superhero name), Mantra's choice became clear. This Thursday, the first passersby were able to look up and discover this spectacular work, which brings a touch of enchantment to everyday life.

Mantra showcases his very first masterpiece in the Montpellier area. With this wall transformed into a work of art, Saint-Jean-de-Védas steps into the (very) exclusive circle of towns that understand street art isn't just about painting: it's a statement.
