And it just so happens that from June 28 to July 1, 2026, the Cinema Festival will be taking over darkened halls all across France. What does that mean? Over 40 Years of History
The Cinema Party, is a long-standing tradition. Created on June 14, 1985 by the Ministry of Culture, the National Federation of French Cinemas, and other industry professionals, this celebration allowed participants to purchase a passport booklet “for the price of a cinema ticket that they could then reuse throughout the day, enabling them to enjoy the special rate of 1 franc per screening” (equivalent to 15 cents today), explains the National Center for Cinema and the Moving Image (CNC). The first edition was such a success that the event has continued over the years, evolving in its format, making cinema ...
a central element of French cultural life.
