The curtain falls definitively on Palmarosa. After just three editions, the indie-pop-rock festival in Montpellier won't continue in 2025. It's a painful yet unavoidable decision made by organizers worn out by financial difficulties and imposed constraints. “Nothing was easy, not everything was perfect, but we tried,” they share with emotion in their farewell statement shared by Metropolitain.

Despite an ambitious lineup and undeniable passion, the event has struggled to find its balance. The 2024 edition, marked by a drastic reduction in ticket prices to try and attract more attendees, wasn’t enough to fill the coffers. With only 12,500 entries over three days instead of the hoped-for 25,000, the festival is facing a staggering deficit of 420,000€, adding to already fragile finances.
A maximum capacity of 8,000 people imposed
The economic context, particularly tough for independent festivals, has obviously played a part. But it was mainly the cap imposed by the Metropolis of Montpellier – limited to 8,000 people – that dealt a fatal blow to the project. This ceiling is in total contradiction with Palmarosa's ambitions, which hoped to establish itself sustainably in the Montpellier music scene.
