The Editor

It's a poignant and heartbreaking message shared by the organizers of the Montpellier Blues Festival on their social media. After two wonderful editions at Peyrou, this much-anticipated musical event for music lovers will not take place this year.

Dear friends of Blues, dear partners and supporters of our festival,

Since its creation, the Montpellier Blues Festival has been an exciting adventure, a gathering that has resonated through the royal square of Peyrou with the timeless magic of Blues. Your support and presence have motivated us to offer quality concerts in this exceptional setting, celebrating not only the blues but also the styles it has inspired.

However, we are faced with a reality that many cultural project organizers know too well: the very high production costs required to maintain this event in such a prestigious and iconic location. After two memorable editions, these financial constraints unfortunately do not allow us to guarantee a third edition at Peyrou. Furthermore, it is essential…It's very difficult to find additional funding through corporate sponsorship.

But we remain very committed to the idea of keeping Blues and contemporary music alive in Montpellier, a city that, along with its region, is rich in heritage and cultural diversity. We want to continue bringing together and moving passionate people, volunteers, music lovers, the curious, young and old alike. We are actively working to imagine new formats, new venues, and new partnerships to keep the Blues resonating, with the support of our beautiful city. Whether it's more intimate spaces or collaborations with other players, we are determined to find alternative solutions.

So we are taking a break, which we hope will be brief, to bounce back better and count on your support to build this new phase together. We’re not saying "goodbye," but "thank you very much and see you soon!"
