It’s one of the most feel-good festivals of the Montpellier summer, and it’s back with a bang for its 6th edition. The Swinging Montpellier Festival is taking place from July 17 to 20 on the legendary Peyrou promenade to transform the heart of the city into a true temple of jazz, dance, and the joy of living. Put on your best dancing shoes and get ready to strut your stuff: it’s going to swing under the Southern sun.
Dancing, competitions, and free evenings
From the very first notes, the festivities feel like an open-air musical. With Lindy Hop enthusiasts, Solo Jazz aficionados, and curious souls just wanting to groove to the rhythm of Ella Fitzgerald, the magic happens with every step. And if you want to join in on the fun, two days of intensive masterclasses with international stars like Bianca & Nils or Pamela & Tadas are waiting for you on the weekend of July 19 and 20. As for the schedule, it’s packed from 10 AM to 6 PM: let’s just say that it’s going to be a full day of dancing!

But Swinging Montpellier is also about the spirit of competition in a friendly atmosphere. On Friday, dancers will create their own choreography to a classic by Ella Fitzgerald, before facing off on Sunday in the highly anticipated Battle Jazz vs All Styles, a dance showdown that's going to be electrifying at 7 PM. And because the swing never sleeps, four free evenings and two after parties will continue the festivities into the night.
