The Editor

It all started in June 1996, when the young Montpellier brass band, the Kadors, had the idea to invite three other brass bands from the region for a musical evening like no other. The chemistry was instant, and what was meant to be just a simple event turned into an iconic festival over the years. Since then, more than 25 editions, 210 brass bands from France and beyond, and over 8,000 musicians have marched through the streets of Montpellier. And this is all completely free for you!

Music, sharing, and lots (and lots) of fun

At its core, the idea was simple: have a musical party, meet people from all around, and most importantly, share a fantastic time together. Today, the Montpellier Brass Band Festival (FFM for the close ones) attracts nearly 20,000 spectators each year, particularly in the Beaux-Arts and Boutonnet neighborhoods, which are transformed into gigantic open-air stages for the occasion.

A Well-Oiled Weekend

The program is all set: on Friday, concerts are organized all across the metropolis, in partnership with local associations. And Saturday is the grand finale: starting from 9:30 AM until 1 AM, the brass bands will keep the performances rolling in markets, flea markets, neighborhood stages, and street podiums (there are a total of 7). Behind the scenes, nearly 200 volunteers are bustling around to keep things running smoothly, providing a warm welcome for the musicians: accommodation, meals, logistics—everything is arranged for them to enjoy to the fullest.

And to wrap up on a high note (literally), a private after-party gives the brass bands and volunteers a chance to unwind, away from the hustle and bustle.ion, in a chill and festive atmosphere. Honestly, are you coming ?
