The Editor

Every year, the event attracts hundreds of thousands of curious visitors, who stroll through the illuminated streets and admire the Opéra Comédie, Saint-Pierre Cathedral, the Fabre Museum, and the Arc de Triomphe transformed into true living screens. The route extends throughout the Écusson, with surprises like the spotlight on the Hôtel Saint-Côme and the colorful creations in Place de la Canourgue. This year’s novelty: no Jardin des Plantes on the agenda, despite its success in 2024.

When heritage meets technology

What makes Cœur de Ville en Lumières unique is its ability to blend the charm of Montpellier’s heritage with the technologies of digital art. Video mapping, monumental projections, and soundscapes bring the century-old stones to life, while also showcasing emerging talents. Animation students, video game designers, or special effects creators...contribute to the event, bringing a touch of freshness and boldness to each edition.

The screenings take place continuously from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM, giving you plenty of time to explore the sites at your own pace. To avoid the crowds and find a good spot, it's best to arrive early... and by tram! Lines 1 and 2 (stop Comédie) or 1, 2, and 4 (stop Corum) drop you right at the heart of the route. You have no reason not to go now! Join us on November 13, 14, and 15, 2025, for a visual feast.
