You may already know about it, or perhaps you're about to have one of the most magnificent discoveries of your life! On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the South Korean group Chudahye Chagis will perform in Montpellier at the Opera Orchestre National Montpellier Occitanie, just days before coming to the capital. It's their very first time performing in France — needless to say, you won't want to miss it.
Between shamanic chants and modern sounds
If you're not familiar with Chudahye Chagis, let us fill you in. On stage, the group led by singer Chu Dahye reinvents ancestral Korean shamanic chants in a contemporary way, drawing from the healing rituals known as gut. The result is a blend of rock, psychedelic, pop and funk sounds mixed with more traditional ones.

The South Korean group was born in 2019. It is made up of four members: Chu Dahye on vocals, Lee Si-mun on guitar, Kim Jae-ho on bass and Kim Da-vin on drums. The band has two albums to its name: Underneath the Dangsan Tree Tonight released in 2020, and Sosuminjok released in 2025, which won album of the year at the Korean Music Awards in 2026.
A grandiose show on every level
The marriage between tradition and modernity continues right through to the scenography and costumes inspired straight from Korean shamanism and folklore. But more than an artistic performance, the group wants to convey a real message of cultural resistance, and they aim to both please the audience and make them think.
<These concerts are part of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and South Korea. They will be presented as part of Touring K-Arts, in partnership with the Korean Cultural Centre, with support from the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Will you join us?
