Written by Azilys Tanneau and directed by Jean-Baptiste Tur, the play takes us into the intense atmosphere of a tense open space, where young employees spend their days sorting through the unbearable to maintain the digital comfort of others. Violence, abuse, extreme images: it's all there. And naturally, it leaves its mark.
When Work Overflows into Life
At the heart of the story is Alexa. The model moderator, in love, strong. At least on the surface. Until her unexpected pregnancy shakes everything up. How can one continue to absorb the world's violence when they are about to give life? The question becomes obsessive, intimate, political. Driven to the edge, Alexa takes an irreversible step: the hostage-taking of her manager, broadcast live on the very social network that employs her.
Through a fictional journalistic investigation, Sans modération(s) dissects the mechanisms of a system that silently grinds away, questions the notion of freedom of expression, and brings to light the psychological damage caused by work that's too often summarized by an algorithm.
An organic theater, without shocking images
Here, there are no trashy videos or visual excess. The choice is bold: we show nothing, we make you feel. The moderated content emerges through the bodies and words of the actors. The virtual becomes physical, and digital violence contaminates reality. A stripped-down, interactive stage setup, sometimes connected to the audience's smartphones, heightens the discomfort and impact.
Written for both teens and adults, this play hits the mark right where it hurts. It talks about our relationship with screens, the news, our constant outrage… and our collective ability to look away.
A necessary, tense, and deeply contemporary performance that reminds us of one essential thing: behind every "moderated content," there is a human being who bears the weight.
