The best French high school (outside of Greater Paris) is in Marseille!

As usual, l'Internaute has published its ranking of the best high schools in France in 2024. The best high school in the country, with the highest score, is the private high school Stanislas in Paris, which has been the subject of several controversies in recent weeks. High schools in the Paris region dominate the top of the rankings. It's not until the 24th place that the first high school outside of the Paris region appears, and it is the Lacordaire high school in Marseille!  

Methodology used for the ranking

The ranking is based on data from the ministry weighted with their methodology which takes into account 3 criteria: the success rate at the bac, the access rate from second grade to the bac within the establishment, and the rate of honors obtained by the baccalaureate graduates from the establishment. Only high schools that had more than 100 candidates for the baccalaureate exams are kept. In total, 4,300 high schools in mainland France (general, technical, and vocational) were studied.

What about the best high schools in Marseille?

Marseille proudly sits in first place among the best high schools outside of Île-de-France with the famous Lacordaire high school scoring an impressive 19.55/20.On a city scale, the top 5 is occupied only by private high schools with lycée de Provence, lycée Paul Melizan, lycée Notre-Dame de France, and lycée Chevreul-Blancarde, all with success rates below 100%. Congratulations!

The best public high schools in Marseille are Marseilleveyre high school and then Saint Charles high school, but they appear far down in the rankings.
