Methodology used for the ranking
The ranking is based on data from the ministry weighted with their methodology which takes into account 3 criteria: the success rate at the bac, the access rate from second grade to the bac within the establishment, and the rate of honors obtained by the baccalaureate graduates from the establishment. Only high schools that had more than 100 candidates for the baccalaureate exams are kept. In total, 4,300 high schools in mainland France (general, technical, and vocational) were studied.

Marseille proudly sits in first place among the best high schools outside of Île-de-France with the famous Lacordaire high school scoring an impressive 19.55/20.On a city scale, the top 5 is occupied only by private high schools with lycée de Provence, lycée Paul Melizan, lycée Notre-Dame de France, and lycée Chevreul-Blancarde, all with success rates below 100%.
