Immersion in Buddhist spirituality and architecture

If you have never had the chance to see them in Asian countries, you may be amazed when you do! Pagodas are Buddhist places of worship known for their impressive architecture and beautiful gilding. They house relics and are a place of prayer for the faithful.

Phap Hoa

The Phap Hoa pagoda is the largest Buddhist place of worship in Marseille, open to all and undoubtedly the most beautiful of all! Founded in 1978 by the Vietnamese Buddhist monk Tchich Thien Dinh, it houses many Buddha statues and a huge reclining Buddha and another one completely covered in gold that can be seen from the highway! The site also houses the mausoleum of the founding monk and a spiritual school, making it the most important Vietnamese temple in the city.

A meal with Vietnamese specialties in the pagoda

Open for visits from Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, the pagoda also opens its doors every first Sunday of the month for a friendly meal around Vietnamese specialties. The community gathers there for a prayer and a meal together, but everyone is welcome, even non-Buddhists. You can take a seat at one of the long tables to enjoy spring rolls, stir-fried tofu with vegetables, and succulent eggplants for a true taste journey that will transport you straight to Asia!
