Behind this brand new Japanese noodle bar (opening this weekend) are a father and son who have fallen in love with Asian cuisine, eager to introduce the Phocean city to this iconic Yakisoba dish!
But what is Yakisoba ?
Yakisoba (焼きそば), which translates to « fried noodles », is a Japanese noodle dish inspired by Chinese cuisine. Traditionally made with wheat flour noodles (not soba, despite the name), yakisoba is very popular in Japanese street food, especially during festivals (matsuri) or outdoor events.
At Yaki & Soba, it's all about stir-fried wheat noodles, veggies, and you can even choose the toppings that go with it. And when it comes to flavors, you can never get enough! The father-son duo has reinvented the recipe with a very eclectic range of tastes: Malaysian Yakisoba, Taiwanese, Peking, or even Cambodian. A true invitation to travel through authentic and varied flavors.
On the Menu
Yakisoba is super versatile, and you can add various veggies and toppings based on your tastes. Some people serve it with a fried egg or in a yakisoba pan sandwich, a delightful specialty where the noodles are tucked into a fluffy brioche bun.
This dish is loved not just for its flavor, but also for its flexibility, allowing you to mix up recipes and use what's on hand.
But besides yakisoba? There are also delicious homemade chicken gyozas, whether fried or not, shrimp tempuras, battered chicken, homemade mandu, shisai and oki wonton soups, and donburi with chicken or vegetables, and of course, yakisoba in all Asian flavors! And to quench your thirst, don’t miss the famous Japanese lemonade: Ramune! It's your chance to try out this brand new Japanese noodle bar opening this weekend (November 29)...
