Marseille is ready to set sail towards the legacy of the Olympic Games! After hosting the world's best sailors during the Paris 2024 Olympics, the marina at Roucas-Blanc is setting a new course. Since January, this brand-new basin not only showcases glowing medals but also serves as a real-life school for young sailors in Marseille.

On the Georges-Pompidou promenade, schoolchildren are taking the helm of collective boats and optimists as part of blue classes. The goal? To introduce them to the joys of sailing while raising awareness about the importance of preserving the marine environment. In 2024, 2000 students will dive into this aquatic experience. This number will rise to 2600 by 2026, proving that Marseille wants to weave sailing into its very fabric.

A public opening starting in June

But the big news is that this marina, which cost nearly 30 million euros, won't be just for young sailors, as explained by Actu Marseille. Starting in June, the docks and the five-hectare basin will gradually open to the public, beginning with Sundays. If all goes well, water activities offered by local associations are expected to ramp up throughout the summer.

It's a wonderful way to give new life to this Olympic infrastructure by embedding it in the daily lives of Marseillais and tourists. And who knows, maybe it will uncover future champion sailors!

and tomorrow ?
