Raclette from Savoie, Swiss fondue, tartiflette, skier's salad, with such a menu, you might think you’re in a mountain restaurant in Savoie. But when you take a closer look, the sea view reminds us that we’re actually just 20 minutes from Marseille in a magical setting.

A Fondue with a Sea View

Usually, you enjoy a view of the snow, chalets, and ski slopes, everything that relates to a winter wonderland, skiing basically. But in this restaurant, La Vague Fondue, it’s all about the stunning sea view! Located on the rooftop of the Halles des Flots Bleus, the restaurant offers an unbeatable view of the Mediterranean Sea.

The two restaurateurs behind this new spot are Léa and Mickael, a couple from Savoie who are passionate about cuisine and their region. Léa, the daughter of restaurateurs, grew up in Tignes, where days were spent on the slopes and meals were shared with family, and the love for the restaurant industry came naturally. On his side, Mickael fell in love with gastronomy while organizing Christmas markets with a Savoie theme. After this adventure, he ran a restaurant in the south of France. And from their meeting came La Vague Fondue: “When our paths crossed, it was clear that our life project would be to open a restaurant together. True Savoyards, but also in love with the PACA region, we wanted to combine the sunshine of the south with the authenticity of our native Savoie. This is how La Vague Fondue was born, a place where the warmth of the mountains meets the sweetness of...and the Mediterranean. ”

A delicious menu

Just thinking about it makes our mouths water already! On the starter side, you can find on the menu the Savoyard egg cocotte, a pumpkin velouté, and sharing boards: Savoyard board, grilled chorizo, breaded reblochon triangles.

When it comes to dishes, if you're not super hungry or if you're literally on a diet (we're sorry for you), we still recommend the skier's salad or the warm goat cheese salad. And for those with a hearty appetite, it's all about the fondue in all its varieties: Savoyard, with morels, Swiss, winemaker, Burgundy, Bresse… Here, cheese is a religion, and Lea and Mickael know it better than anyone else, sourcing from the best producers in their regions. The raclette also shines on the menu: Savoy, with brézain, truffle, vegetarian, you can even discover specialties that are completely new to our little Marseille taste buds!

And on the sweet side, we stay in the region with a plate of cheese from Savoie and ice cream cups with very evocative names: the powdery one, the Mont Blanc, the alpage… In short, even the beer is artisanal, brewed in Chambéry, the Mont Blanc Beer offers a refreshing local touch.
