Once the plastic items (mostly bottles) are collected, they are then reduced into granules, spun into yarn, and finally assembled to create one of the Corail pairs of sneakers (one model, 5 colors) now available online, or at the Galeries Lafayette du Centre Bourse de Marseille.
Corail sneakers: the perfect leather alternative
Corail sneakers are made of 99% recycled plastics. From the sole to the laces and through the shoe body, everything is recyclable. It takes about 8 bottles to make one shoe and a little more for finishing touches. These shoes are therefore 100% vegan and approved by PETA.
Today, the Corail project not only has an ecological impact but also an economic and social one. Indeed, harvesting floating debris helps clean our marine horizon and provides an additional source of income for the fishermen of Marseille.
Going into fashion details, Corail offers various lines and styles of sneakers. First, the Marseille 21, a pair of urban and elegant sneakers that is the evolved version of the very first edition with stamp and couture wave.
A little while ago, the Marseille 90 was born, as a "tribute" to a bottle from the 1990s collected by fishermen in search of a cleaner sea. Finally, it took 22 bottles to create the 100% vegan and recyclable Back Pack: the Marseille city. Available in green, beige or black, they are designed to accompany you everywhere.
