The 20th European Night of Museums reopens its doors in Marseille on Saturday, May 18. A wonderful opportunity to discover or rediscover these places that highlight the culture of our beautiful metropolis and beyond. Embark on a night full of surprises and culture! All over Europe, nearly 3,000 museums (including 1,300 in France) offer a special program to showcase or rediscover their rich collections for free.

Here is a list of events not to be missed during this exceptional night:

Natural History Museum

  • Attend a magnificent chamber music concert by students from the Pierre Barbizet Conservatory in Marseille!
  • Permanent exhibition Earth's Evolution: a permanent exhibit at the museum that explores the influence of the human species on the evolution of life and environments. It unravels the history.Story of life on Earth, in a unique way, around seven central themes common to living organisms: "Living", "Reproducing", "Protecting Oneself", "Communicating, Perceiving", "Breathing or Not", "Feeding", and "Evolving". Temporary exhibition "Dog and Cat": an immersion in the development of pets as a true social phenomenon through a playful, sensory, and interactive journey.

    Marseille History Museum 

    • In the workshop, a participatory mural will be created using stamps that allow visitors to reproduce silhouettes of athletes, sculptures, and paintings extracted from reproductions of exhibited works.

    Marseille Museum of Contemporary Art

    • Words: an experience of reading works and poetic interpretation by students of the Art History class live around the artists of the Mac collection. The concept is transcribed with "hands and feet" to interpret the works through movement and dance.
