A Unique Concept in Marseille

New concepts keep blooming in this whirlwind of creativity city! So why hadn't we thought of a ceramic café before? Created by Achraf and Pénelope Dadi, this café workshop has set up shop in the first arrondissement on Saint-Savournin street, in a super cozy space where we’d love to spend all our afternoons!

Paint on ceramic while sipping a latte!

Why choose when you can enjoy yummy dishes and do a creative and relaxing activity at the same time? So how does it work? You book a 2.5-hour slot, either solo or with friends, and once you’re there, you pick a piece of ceramic to customize. All supplies are provided: paints, brushes, you can use as much as you like. Of course, the Barboteam is there to take care of you: throughout the day, indulge in a sweet menu filled with delicious cookies, tea, and coffee, and in the evening, it’s tapas time! Baked camembert with honey, grilled halloumi, panisses…

Then, the piece is picked up by the team for baking in an oven at 1000° (just that!), and 10 days later, it’s the BIG DAY. You can come pick up your vibrant, transformed piece!

But where does the name Barbotyne come from?

In ceramics and pottery, barbotine is the diluted clay paste in water, often used to join two pieces, like a handle and its cup! There are nearly 40 ceramic models to customize, and each model is sold at a different price, which includes the whole activity: the piece, the painting, and the baking. You can expect to pay around 8€ for a candle holder and 58€ for a large vase!

To your brushes!
