It’s a must-see, a piece of essential general culture that you just can’t miss, an absolutely unique experience, but above all, a show to see at least once in your life. The Barber of Seville by Gioachino Rossini is one of those great classics of the comic repertoire, and the most famous arias are surely familiar to us, even if we don’t realize it. From December 26, 2025, to January 4, 2026, the Opéra de Marseille will host this masterpiece on its stage for five exceptional performances. And for audience members under 28, this show, like all others presented throughout the year, is offered at a reduced price!

Between Humor, Mix-ups, and Mischief

It took just fifteen days for Rossini, in 1816, to compose this piece that shook his era and continues to shine through the ages without losing its brilliance. Inspired by the eponymous comedy written by Beaumarchais, this two-act opera, with a libretto by Sterbini, sweeps us into a sparkling and comical love triangle

Count Almaviva dreams of seducing the beautiful Rosine. However, his guardian, Bartholo, also aims to marry her and keeps her locked away. To achieve his goal, Almaviva seeks the help of a barber named Figaro. Through clever tricks and misunderstandings, Figaro manages to bring Rosine and Almaviva closer together before Bartholo intervenes...


An opera to see at an affordable price

This co-production between the Rhine Opera and the Normandy Opera naturally includes Figaro's famous aria “Largo al factotum” as well as Rosine's “Una voce poco fa.”

First presented at the Teatro Argentina in Rome in 1816, it’s…Marseille, two centuries later, where The Barber of Seville continues to win over audiences. And if you're still hesitating, tickets are €10 (+ €1 online fee) for those under 28 !
