When the administration gets a little enchanting, it leads to a municipal order like no other! In Civrieux-d'Azergues, Mayor Marie-Pierre Teyssier decided to sprinkle some humor into the official paperwork, as reported by Le Progrès. For Halloween, witches and flying creatures will be allowed to soar over the town from 5 PM to midnight. It's a fun and poetic nod to a celebration that the locals especially cherish. “It will be normal to see witches in the sky,” jokes the mayor. And let's just say that the news has already spread like wildfire among the local broomsticks.

A magical order… butFramed up!

But even witches must follow the law — or almost. In this amusing yet improbable decree, several rules are laid out with a good dose of irony. The flights must be done "at a reasonable altitude, without disturbing public peace or the air traffic of local bats." Spells and potions are strictly forbidden on passersby, and apprentice witches must ensure they respect the curfew for illuminated pumpkins. As for the children, they risk a special sanction if they scare municipal agents: a very unique fine, "candies or potions of good mood."

A local tradition full of magic

Behind the joke, there's a wonderful spirit of celebration and friendliness that brings the community to life. The town hall will open its doors from 5 PM to 7 PM to welcome masked residents and offer them treats and drinks before the big Halloween evening organized by the PEP association.

At the community hall. Last year, 20 kilos of candy were distributed — a record that the mayor is determined to surpass this year!

Civrieux-d’Azergues is not new to whimsical administrative decisions. The town issues these kinds of delightful decrees every year: at Christmas, it’s Santa Claus’s sleigh that gets the go-ahead to fly. It's a light-hearted and joyful way to strengthen connections among residents while adding a sprinkle of fantasy to public life. In short, in Civrieux, municipal orders definitely have more magic than paperwork.
