Great news for Lyon residents craving sunshine and turquoise waters! The company Volotea has just announced the launch of a new summer route between Lyon Saint-Exupéry and Alghero, in the northwest of Sardinia. Starting in May, the Italian island will be only a 1.5-hour direct flight away, with no stops and no compromises.

The connection will operate every Monday and Friday, from May 29 to October 2. A perfect rhythm for an impromptu long weekend or a real vacation under the Sardinian sun. It's the perfect chance to enjoy some sea, beach, and relaxing downtime without needing to take three weeks off work.

Alghero, medieval charm and postcard-perfect beaches

Volotea is really excited about this new destination. Alghero charms with its fortified historic center that has a Catalan vibe, sun-soaked streets, and beaches with crystal-clear waters. It's a cozy town, perfect for alternating between cultural visits, swims, and aperitifs by the sea.

With Alghero, the Spanish airline marks its seventh Italian destination from Lyon. Bari, Florence, Olbia, Palermo, Salerno, and Venice were already on the map. The strategy is clear: make Italy an ultra-accessible destination for Lyon travelers.

Tickets starting at 19 euros to escape

The cherry on the tiramisu: tickets are available from just 19 euros. This is enough to turn a simple desire for escape into an immediate booking. This summer, Sardinia has never been closer to Lyon.
