Lyon is getting a fantastic new international connection with the arrival of Ethiopian Airlines. Starting from July 2, 2026, the leading airline in Africa will launch three weekly flights between Lyon and Addis Ababa via Geneva. This strategic announcement brings the total number of French destinations served by Ethiopian Airlines to three, alongside Paris and Marseille.

This new link greatly strengthens the connections between the southeastern part of France and the African continent. Thanks to the ultra-connected hub of Addis Ababa, travelers from Lyon will have access to over 65 African destinations. From Ethiopia to Kenya, from Tanzania to South Africa, not to mention Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, and even Rwanda, the possibilities are expanding tremendously.

A direct gateway to Africa

The flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays aboard the Airbus A350-900, the pride of the Ethiopian Airlines fleet. Flight ET 738 will take off from Addis Ababa shortly after midnight for a morning arrival in Lyon at 8:15 AM, via Geneva.
