Iceland from Lyon is not happening anytime soon. Although easyJet had announced with great fanfare the launch of this new route for summer 2025, connecting Saint-Exupéry to Reykjavik twice a week, the airline has ultimately backtracked. The reason? A lack of bookings sufficient to make the route profitable. It's a tough blow for travelers eager for volcanic landscapes and steaming lagoons, who will need to rethink their plans.
A route canceled...for now!
In a statement, easyJet confirmed the suspension of ticket sales, explaining that the airline regularly adjusts its network to focus on the most popular routes. Passengers who had already booked their flights have been contacted and will be fully refunded. A small relief for those who had planned to fly to Icelandic lands this summer.

If this decision feels like a false start for the destination, it doesn't mean that it's been permanently shelved. EasyJet, which offers more than fifty connections from Lyon, is not closing the door on the possibility of bringing back the Reykjavik route in a future season. We'll have to wait and see if demand will be there this time. In the meantime, to see the Northern Lights, you'll still have to make a stopover.
